Approach

A pace you can sustain

Yoga deepens when you stay with it over time. Everyone progresses differently. We focus on safe structure, calm support, and guidance on the mat.

Gentle forward fold on a yoga mat

Life in Tokyo can stay busy for weeks on end. Rakuyogais meant to be a place to pause and reconnect with breath and attention.

We draw on traditional hatha foundations and a moderate vinyasa tempo—joint-friendly transitions, options for different bodies, and explanations that work for international guests.

Yoga is not a substitute for medical care. We do not treat illness or guarantee specific health outcomes. If you have symptoms that concern you, please consult a qualified professional.

Classes

Main programs

Three clearly labeled levels. Schedules change seasonally—please confirm the current week before you visit.

Beginner60 min

Beginner Basics

Breath-aware movement, stable alignment, and clear cues from your first visit. We repeat the same flow so confidence can build gradually.

What this class covers

  • Safe ways to get on and off the mat
  • Common pose names and gentle variations
  • With regular practice, many people notice balance and range of motion more easily (results vary)

Who it's for

New to yoga, returning after a long break, or anyone who prefers a quiet pace and room to ask questions.

Intermediate75 min

Gentle Flow & Strength

We link breath and movement at a joint-friendly intensity. No speed races—we keep form in focus.

What this class covers

  • Steady load while keeping alignment
  • Smooth transitions from standing to floor
  • Optional progressions when your body is ready

Who it's for

Comfortable with sun salutations and basic standing poses; you want explanation plus a bit more movement.

Advanced90 min

Deep Practice Lab

Longer holds, fine adjustments, pranayama (breath work), and short meditation. We favor careful teaching over flashy tricks.

What this class covers

  • Awareness of balance, placement, and breath
  • Learning where your sustainable edge is
  • Calm attention during longer poses

Who it's for

Experienced practitioners who value depth over pose count and can adjust intensity on their own.

Instructors

Clear cues, human pacing

We train in anatomy and respectful language. We offer choices rather than forceful commands, and resting is always welcome.

  • Lead teachers have completed at least 200 hours of foundational training and receive regular feedback inside the studio.
  • When possible, we share the class outline in advance so you know what to expect that day.
  • First-timers get a short intro to studio rules and how we use props.

Feedback

What people often say after class

Examples of comments we hear at the studio. Experiences differ. We do not edit quotes for exaggerated marketing.

I was worried about keeping up in a group class, but they showed the flow several times and offered easier options. After about a month I sometimes feel a bit looser around my shoulders after desk work (personal experience).

The room and temperature feel calm—no loud music or performance vibe. After class I leave feeling settled rather than wired.
Lena R.Visiting Tokyo
I like that they do not over-promise. They are thoughtful about knees and wrists. My sleep rhythm feels a bit easier sometimes, though I know that varies by person.
